As the architect Iñaki Àbalos tells in his article Bartleby, the architect (El País 10.03.2007), sometimes, the best decision in a project is to do nothing. To reivindicate contention in a moment when architecture has begun a fight to reach a formal virtuosism that each time is more unrelated to reality is, at least, a risky position. In case of rehabilitation projects, to define the limits of what has to be modified is more necessary.

Intervention proposal is understood as an acupuncture work: to act little, fast and precisely.
Little, because the factories building typology is good enough to held the activities required without much modifications; Fast because in a contest where the city has so many problems to serve this kind of spaces to the artistic community, there is no time to lose; Precisely because the smart use of resources is a main point when taking care of the project viability.

Project is set in two acting areas: to equip buildings the necessary infrastructure for its present and future use, and to give unity and formal coherency to the buildings, generating a representative space.
The activation of these two buildings is planned through the insertion in them of the functional centers. They should contain all the necessary services for the proper functionality of the buildings. They will be at the same time, a main element in the spatial configuration of space.

This organization in functional stripes is at the same time the starting point from where we worked the formal appearance of the complex. Proposal refers to the complex etymological and historic roots. It is formalized in a reinterpretation of the Tartan meaning and concept (Scottish culture characteristic fabric). The functional scheme creates a central point in the intersection of two patterns. It is the polivalent activities space, directly related to the inner space of the block.
