Our proposal for the new cultural equipment in the Hondartza area at Orio sets as its main target to create a new urban space where a new town centrality point can be developed. We think that public space is, par excellence, the physical place for developing and enhancing the collectivity relationships, and that is why this has guide us to a proposal as urban as architectonic.

Project gets the challenge of creating an emblematic building for Orio focusing its efforts on the public space generated by the project. Functional pieces on the program are distributed all over the plot, without occupying the existing square. It generates a great passable platform that reproduces on the building roof most of the space occupied by the construction.

Building is conceived as a continuous pavement frame that is clipped and folded to accommodate on its interior the main spaces of the program. Thanks to that strategy, we generate a continuous and ascending urban space that is organized a two level square. At the street level, the existing square relates de building to the close residential area. The upper level, the new platform confronts the auditorium and a territorial scaled item: the landscape.
