The city of Teruel is placed on a high terrace over the river Turia. The historic center, it is characterized by its singular silhouette, made of lots of towers and merlons which sprout all over the city. These towers, most of them, in mudejar style, are one of the main architectonic and artistic referents in the city, and belong to the most important buildings in the city.

The new museum complex uses the same strategy to get placed in the old city skyline. The project reinterprets those high elements, and convert them into the proposal leitmotiv. The new building is organized around several light-patios, which sprout over surrounding buildings to get more light and more sights.

These elements are the unique conection between interior and exterior, and give undirect natural light to all museum rooms. At the same time, this elements act as big periscopes, where the museum users can have diferent sights over the city towers. Thanks to that optic mecanisms, the museum appropriates the art and history of the city, absorving and interiorizing into a new formal language.
