Dúplex renovation at Barcelona

The interior renovation project transforms a former open-plan office space into a duplex apartment located in Barcelona. The starting point was a completely open layout, lacking the functional and comfort requirements associated with residential use. The intervention is driven by the intention to convert this space into a contemporary home, capable of responding to the needs of everyday living through a clear, efficient, and balanced spatial organization.

The architectural proposal develops a functional program comprising a generous living area as the central space of domestic life, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The layout is organized to ensure maximum functionality of circulation routes and a clear distinction between day and night areas, taking advantage of the duplex configuration to reinforce this hierarchy of uses. The resulting spaces have been designed with particular attention to natural light, visual openness, and flexibility, creating a bright, spacious, and comfortable living environment.

From a formal and material perspective, the project embraces a modern and contemporary aesthetic, based on clean lines, a carefully curated selection of materials, and a restrained color palette that enhances natural light. One of the key objectives of the intervention was to establish a strong relationship between the interior spaces and the private courtyard located within the urban block, transforming this outdoor area into a natural extension of the home. The organization of the living spaces and the opening of visual connections toward the courtyard strengthen the link with the exterior, significantly enhancing both the environmental quality and the overall living experience of the apartment.
