This refurbished building was built between the end of 19th century and the beginning of the 20th. Its facade, composed by a ground level and three storeys, represents an archetype of the Barcelona’s Eixample first buildings construction and composition system. Despite of not having unique elements, the historical value of the building lies in the fact that it represents the style that built the city enlargement.
In the 60s some modifications were made in the ground level facade. The trade premises went to have a display window that occupied the full front of the building at ground level. The entrance to the building and shop was modified, and it went through a covered hall. One of the goals of the refurbishment was to restore the building to its original state, so accesses to the building from the street where restored.
For facade refurbishment, its stucco was cleaned to discover which were its original colours. After cleaning the facing, that was well preserved but dirty, it was coloured with a technique consisting on applying a thin layer of painting, that allows us to se the grain of the stucco. The result is a facade that has recovered its former polychromy but still keeps the ageing patina that it deserves.
